About emergency repairs

When the gate won't let you in or out.

An emergency is a gate that is stuck closed or part-way, can’t be put into manual mode, and is blocking entry or exit. Call and tell us what’s happening, and we’ll take it from there. Not every electrical fault is an emergency: if the motor has stopped working but you can still open the gate by hand, that’s a breakdown repair.

If a person, animal or vehicle is trapped by the gate, call us straight away rather than attempting to free them yourself. The only precaution we recommend taking before we arrive is isolating power to the gate at the mains.

What counts as an emergency

If you can't get in or out, it's an emergency.

01 Stuck closed The gate won't open and is blocking access in or out.
02 Stuck part-way The gate has stopped mid-travel and is blocking the way in or out.
03 No manual mode The gate can't be put into manual mode, so it can't be moved by hand.
04 Still moves by hand? If the gate can still be opened manually, it's usually a breakdown repair rather than an emergency.

01 You call and describe it Tell us what's happening, the gate type, and the brand if you know it.
02 The call-out fee, up front We state the call-out fee clearly over the phone before anything is booked.
03 Details taken We take your name and address, and you text through the details.
04 An approximate time Guil gives you an approximate time based on the day's jobs, then comes out to troubleshoot the fault.
05 Fixed on the spot Minor repairs are sorted there and then.
06 Quote and return If parts are needed and aren't on the van, we raise a quote and come back another day.

My automated sliding gate would not fully open today and I was unable to drive my car out. A friend recommended Gill and he was able to change his work schedule and come. He identified the problem immediately, replaced the part and then tested all the other areas of the motor to be sure they were fully functional. He even blew away all the cobwebs and dirt around the unit before replacing the housing. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gill. Absolutely outstanding service. Guil is friendly, knowledgeable, and consistently goes above and beyond to resolve any issue. O’pn Close Systems installed a new motor for our sliding gate on 14/07/2025, Guil did the installation. I have been a registered builder for 40 yrs and believe I’m suitably qualified to present my opinion for this installation. Guil is a real professional and tradesman, and comes well presented with his set-up something hard to find these days. 5 Stars all round – I can’t add to anything that previous reviews have already said so I’ll just endorse that Guillaume was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, had all the tools, cleaned up after himself and was able to attend to our sticking swing gate when our regular guy couldn’t… We will definitely use and recommend Op’nClose for any gate related issues as our gate is now smoother and quieter than it has ever seen.

I am so happy with the work completed to my existing gate which I required to be automated. So many larger organisations said it couldn’t be done, and wanted to sell me a whole new gate with a different set up. The area was a tight fit, but Guil managed to instal a perfect solution and worked quickly to complete the job to a high a standard. I would 100% recommend O’PN Close Solutions to anyone. Op’n close system we’re great to deal with, they attended our breakdown super quick, fixed the problem and left the site nice and tidy… to avoid having bad surprises we even started on their regular maintenance program. Would strongly recommend.
