Local knowledge

Dalkeith frontages are wide and the homes are built to a high standard, so a gate here is as much part of the facade as it is security. Most jobs are long sliders or double swing gates with custom infill, sized to the block and finished to match the house.

Around Dalkeith

Gates that suit Dalkeith streets.

Big blocks, river views and a lot of custom builds. These are the jobs we see most around Dalkeith.

Large riverside blocks Wide frontages along the river streets suit long sliding gates or a pair of swing leaves. We size the motor for the gate weight and the duty, not the cheapest kit that will move it.
Custom and architectural builds Laser-cut panels, timber-look infill and slim aluminium slats, powder coated to match. Motors and wiring are kept as discreet as the site allows.
Sloping driveways Some Dalkeith blocks fall toward the river. On a grade we look at swing direction, hinge setup and stopping points so the leaves clear the driveway and close cleanly.

Absolutely outstanding service. Guil is friendly, knowledgeable, and consistently goes above and beyond to resolve any issue. He takes the time to properly diagnose problems and always delivers effective solutions. He has been servicing our gates for the past three years and is the only person we trust with them. His response time is prompt, and he’s even able to assist over the phone when needed, which has been incredibly valuable. I highly recommend Guil to anyone with a motorised gate system, whether it’s for installation, servicing, or troubleshooting.

O’pn Close Systems installed a new motor for our sliding gate on 14/07/2025, Guil did the installation. I have been a registered builder for 40 yrs and believe I’m suitably qualified to present my opinion for this installation. Guil is a real professional and tradesman, and comes well presented with his set-up something hard to find these days. He did an excellent job and is a pleasure to deal with I have no hesitation in recommending Op’n Close Systems if you are looking for a professional company. Thank you and I will be contacting you again should I require your services.

My automated sliding gate would not fully open today and I was unable to drive my car out. A friend recommended Gill and he was able to change his work schedule and come. He identified the problem immediately, replaced the part and then tested all the other areas of the motor to be sure they were fully functional. He even blew away all the cobwebs and dirt around the unit before replacing the housing. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gill. He was friendly, worked efficiently, and clearly is an expert in his field.

5 Stars all round – I can’t add to anything that previous reviews have already said so I’ll just endorse that Guillaume was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, had all the tools, cleaned up after himself and was able to attend to our sticking swing gate when our regular guy couldn’t… We will definitely use and recommend Op’nClose for any gate related issues as our gate is now smoother and quieter than it has ever seen.

I am so happy with the work completed to my existing gate which I required to be automated. So many larger organisations said it couldn’t be done, and wanted to sell me a whole new gate with a different set up. The area was a tight fit, but Guil managed to instal a perfect solution and worked quickly to complete the job to a high a standard. I would 100% recommend O’PN Close Solutions to anyone. Thankyou for everything!

Op’n close system we’re great to deal with, they attended our breakdown super quick, fixed the problem and left the site nice and tidy… to avoid having bad surprises we even started on their regular maintenance program. Would strongly recommend.

Guil’s approach to customer service is refreshing and genuine. He was able to diagnose the issue with my existing gate motor and promptly organised and installed a suitable replacement. I’m very happy with the services provided by Guil and would use his services again without hesitation.
